Don't throw away that old toothbrush!

For many patients, the highlight of their dental cleaning appointment is taking home their brand new toothbrush. Before you throw away the old one, consider the many alternative uses for this handy gadget. Before re-using, you should first clean the brush by soaking in bleach for 3 minutes then rinsing thoroughly and air drying. Now you're ready to start cleaning lots of things around the house and garage.

  • Easily remove crayon marks from walls when used with a small amount of non-gel toothpaste.
  • Get the grime from around faucets and other fixtures using white vinegar. The toothbrush can reach the smallest places including around can opener blades and appliance knobs.
  • They fit perfectly in window and shower door tracks for removing that hard to reach gunk. They also work great for cleaning grout around tile!
  • After shucking corn, use a toothbrush brushing downwards to remove the silks.
  • Shine up a diamond ring with mild soapy water, rinse and dry with a soft cloth to make it really sparkle!
  • Keep one with your gardening supplies to clean your fingernails when you're done.
  • Spot clean laundry, upholstery and carpet.
  • Use it to loosen debris from computer keyboards before compressed air to really get the stuck on stuff.
  • Great for removing debris from the tread on athletic shoes and also for that seam where the leather meets the sole on everyday shoes. You can really get that shoe polish down in the grooves with an old toothbrush.
  • Works well on car battery terminals and bicycle chains.
  • Easily clean around the blades on small fans and filters on your hairdryer.
  • Use it to remove small splinters! Soften the toothbrush in warm water and soap, rub gently, and it should bring it to the surface for easy removal.
  • Make your lips kissable by removing dead skin with gentle brushing. Also use to keep those unruly eyebrows in shape.
  • Children can use it as a paintbrush for artwork - it makes interesting textures!
  • Don't forget to brush the dog and cat's teeth too!

The list is endless - any small place that needs a small scrub brush is just waiting for your old toothbrush. Remember - your dentist recommends replacing your old one every 3 months to keep your teeth and gums healthy! Linda

I have been going to Family Dentist Tree for more than 20 years. I have seen 2 of my dentists retire and always replaced with great quality new ones. Great staff and hygienists. Plan to continue here even though now I drive across town to do so.
